SLIAC Women's Track and Field Players of the Week - April 3

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week are Shannon McCaul, from Westminster College and Raven Venegas, from Fontbonne University.

SLIAC WOMEN'S FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 3
RAVEN VENEGAS, FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY

For the second week in a row, Fontbonne University's Raven Venegas is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Field Player of the Week. Venegas, a freshman from Racine, Wis., recorded two top ten finishes last week while competing in the Hanover Invitational. She placed second in the shot put, with a distance of 11.61 meters. In the discus, throwing a distance of 35.48 meters, she took seventh place while setting a new personal best and school record.

SHANNON McCAUL, WESTMINSTER COLLEGE

Shannon McCaul takes home the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Track Player of the Week award after a pair of top-five finishes at the Lindenwood John Creer Invitational. McCaul, a senior from Rolla, Mo., took second place in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 11:49.14. She added a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:26.83. Both times are the top performances in the conference this season.

  • Meghan Illig, Webster University (Track and Field) Illig set a Webster record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.23.
