Webster Draws Wisconsin-Whitewater in Opener

The Webster University women's basketball team drew #21 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the opening round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament. Wisconsin-Whitewater will serve as host for the four teams in the region bracket with Ohio Wesleyan University and Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) College joining Webster. 

Webster will be making its second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance and sixth in program history after winning the SLIAC Championship 87-84 over Westminster College on Saturday. Wisconsin-Whitewater secured its seventh consecutive tournament trip after a 71-62 victory over Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the WIAC Championship. Webster is currently 24-3 overall this season while the Warhawks are 21-6 overall. Webster lost 79-76 to Mary Hardin-Baylor in the opening round last year while Wisconsin-Whitewater advanced to the national tournament championship game. This will be the first meeting for the two schools. 

The Gorloks tip at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, March 3rd against the Warhawks with Ohio Wesleyan and Gustavus Adolphus starting at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The winners of both games will meet on Saturday, March 4th at 7:30 p.m.
