The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for February 6, 2023

     
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
 

Cody Baer, Eureka College

For the second consecutive week, Baer takes home weekly honors. He averaged 25.0 points and 15.5 rebounds in two Red Devil wins last week, shooting 72 percent from the field. The junior tallied 26 points and 12 rebounds against Blackburn and followed with 24 points and 19 rebounds against Westminster.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
  Julie Baudendistel, Webster University

Baudendistel helped the Gorloks to a pair of conference wins last week, averaging 25.5 points and 13.0 rebounds in the two games while shooting 57 percent from the field. She had 30 points in a win over Greenville and followed with 21 points and 16 rebounds against Fontbonne. The senior knocked down 5-of-7 threes and was perfect from the free throw line.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
  Malik Grant, Greenville University

Grant took 6th in the long jump at the Jim Green Invite last weekend. His mark of 20'5.25" was a personal best and qualifies him for the NCCAA Championships next weekend. 

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
  Peter McGowan, Spalding University

The senior runner helped the Golden Eagles to a 1st place finish in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 11:36. He also took 5th place in the 3000-meter race with a time of 9:27; helping the team to 12 of 14 points scored for the meet.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
  Tawny Rodriguez, Greenville University

Rodriguez placed in the top five in two events last weekend, finishing 2nd in the shot put and 5th in the weight throw. Her distance of 40'1" in the shot put was a season-best as was her mark of 45'9" in the weight throw. 

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
  Vanessa Jones, Webster University

The graduate student took 1st place in the 55-meter hurdles at the Jim Green Invite last weekend. Jones finished in a time of 8.78 seconds, besting the next runner by 0.78 seconds. 

Other Notables

  • Jaquan Adams, Principia College (Men's Basketball) Recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, adding five assists, in a win over Greenville.
  • CJ Anderson, Greenville University (Men's Track and Field) Took 1st in the 60-meter dash at the Indiana State meet.
  • Zaneiya Batiste, Spalding University (Women's Basketball) The freshman put up 21 points and 20 rebounds in a win over Blackburn, career highs in both categories.
  • Joshua Clark, Webster University (Men's Track and Field) Finished 1st in the 400 meters at the Jim Green Invite.
  • KeYonn Hall-Baker, Fontbonne University (Men's Track and Field) School record in the long jump with a distance of 18'7.75". 
  • Isabelle Llewellyn, Webster University (Women's Track and Field) Set a school record in the weight throw with a mark of 45'3.5". 
  • Cheikh Thiam, Fontbonne University (Men's Basketball) Had 14 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Webster; giving him three double-doubles in his last four games.
  • Kourtney White, Fontbonne University (Women's Basketball) Reached 1,000 career points, the second fastest in program history to achieve the feat.
