SLIAC Raises Money for Cancer Research and Awareness

Last weekend concluded the annual conference-wide Coaches vs. Cancer campaign, raising money for cancer research and awareness. Members from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference collected money and held various contests over a two-week period with all money going towards helping patients and families affected by Cancer. Schools held various in-game activities and contests, along with raffles, while coaches participated in the Suits and Sneakers program; helping raise awareness about the effects of Cancer and how to fight it.

SLIAC schools collected nearly $900 this year with money being donated to both The Hope Lodge and the Super Sam Foundation. The Hope Lodge, a nationwide organization, provides housing for families and patients of Cancer while receiving treatment. The Super Sam Foundation is a pediatric foundation that provides funding and support for families while raising awareness.

Blackburn College led all SLIAC schools, collecting $375 this year; narrowly edging out Westminster College which collected $300. Fontbonne University raised $125 while Webster University totaled just under $100. This marks the 7th year the SLIAC has joined in a conference-wide initiative to raise awareness and collect money for Cancer research and support with schools collecting a total of over $11,000 during that time.
