SLIAC Announces First Athletes of the Week for 2011-12 Basketball Season

St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the first Athletes of the Week for the 2011-12 basketball season.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Eureka College's Dustin Fritsch, a junior from Sterling, Ill., has been named the Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 15-21.

Fritsch, a 6-6 forward, averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in two games played last week. He opened the season with a double-double, recording 21 points and 10 rebounds in an 81-76 victory over North Park University. Fritsch shot 8-of-16 (.500) from the field, 3-of-9 (.333) from behind the arc and 2-of-2 (1.000) from the free throw line, while also adding one assist and one steal.

Fritsch scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 99-94 overtime loss to Rockford College. He tallied one assist, one steal and one block, and also shot a perfect 5-of-5 (1.000) from the charity stripe.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Eureka College's Caty Eeten, sophomore from Eureka, Ill., has been named the Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 15-21.

Eeten, a 5-10 guard, opened the 2011-12 season with back-to-back double-doubles and a scoring record. She had 26 points and 10 rebounds in Eureka's season-opening victory, 74-65, against Robert Morris University-Springfield. Eeten shot 10-of-14 (.714) from the field, 6-of-8 (.750) from the free throw line and recorded seven assists, two steals and two blocks in the win.

Eeten then scored 49 points on 17-of-26 (.654) shooting from the field and 15-of-20 (.750) from the charity stripe to break the Red Devils' single-game scoring record and lead Eureka to a 117-98 victory versus Knox College. She also added seven assists, two steals and two blocks.
