How It Happened

The Griffins got on the board first in the top of the second. Matt Tossick led off with a hit-by-pitch and eventually made his way to third. After a strikeout, Tyler Grimes came through with a single to left to give Fontbonne a 1-0 lead.

Three batters later, Hoevelmann doubled, allowing Grimes and Tyler Chambliss, who reached on a walk, to score and make it 3-0.

That score remained the same up until the top of the seventh. With one on and two outs, Michael Puckett, Jr., hit a homer to left, his second on the year, to extend the advantage out to 5-0. That was more than enough with Summers on the mound as he retired the side for the win.
