Greenville, Principia Earn Team Academic Honor

ST. LOUIS - Greenville College and Principia College were two of 187 women's cross country teams in NCAA Division III to earn All-Academic status by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association).

A total of 187 institutions represent 38 conferences that compose the group. The NESCAC and MIAC each had 10 institutions make the liste to lead all leagues in Division III. The Centennial, NCAC and WIAC followed with nine.

Of the 32 teams that participated in the national championship meet, 31 of those earned All-Academic status - including all eight regional champion teams. The Bears of Washington University of St. Louis, who won their first NCAA cross country title this Fall, recieved the Scholar Team of the Year award.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 through the 2011 Fall semester. Scholar Teams of the Year are determined from among those earned All-Academic status and placed highest as a team at the most recent NCAA Championships.
