Powell Continues to Dominate Women's Cross Country Weekly Honors; Three Others Repeat with Athlete of the Week Honors

St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of October 10-16.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Spalding University's Abram Deng, a junior from Louisville, Ky. (Central), has been named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of October 10-16. This marks the third time this season that he has earned the honor.

Deng set a new school record with his time of 25:30.30 on the 8K course at the Wilmington College Fall Classic. He finished 10th out of 298 total runners, breaking his old record by nearly 30 seconds. Spalding placed 15th out of 26 schools competing.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Principia College's Casey Powell, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., has been named the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of October 10-16. This marks the fifth time this season that she has earned the honor.

Powell was the lone female runner competing for Principia at the Brooks Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. In the "pre-nationals" meet that featured some of the top teams from around the country, Powell ran a time of 23:30 in windy conditions and on a very soft course. She placed 91st out of 395 total runners.

MEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE
Greenville College's David Dunlop, a senior from Coleraine, North Ireland, has been named the Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 10-16. This marks the second time this season that he has earned the honor.

Dunlop, a 6-0 forward, recorded four goals and one assist for a total of nine points in three games played last week. His lone assist came in a 2-1 win on the road at Ohio-Mid Western. Dunlop then scored two goals each in an 8-0 win versus Blackburn College and an 8-0 win versus Eureka College.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE
Greenville College's Jackie Sievert, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Francis Howell), has been named the Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 10-16.

Sievert, a 5-7 forward, scored three goals and tallied four assists for a total of 10 points in three games played last week. She scored the game-winning goal in a 4-0 victory versus Ohio-Mid Western. Sievert added one goal and three assists in a 5-0 shutout against Blackburn College. She ended the week with one goal and one assist in a 10-0 win over Eureka College.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - DEFENSIVE
Principia College's Lauren Wienecke, a senior from Tulsa, Okla. (Jenks), has been named the Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 10-16.

Wienecke, a center back, started and was the lone Principia player to play all 90 minutes in both games last week. She helped anchor a defense that recorded two shutouts last week. Principia defeated Spalding University, 6-0, and Blackburn College, 9-0.

"Lauren [Wienecke] is a very consistent player," said Principia head coach Jess Semnacher. "She is very graceful in her movements, passes with precision and shows great composure in the backline on and off the ball."

VOLLEYBALL - OFFENSIVE
Principia College's Tess Rountree, a freshman from Paso Robles, Calif., has been named the Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 10-16. This marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Rountree, a 6-0 outside hitter, averaged 4.87 kills per set in four matches played last week. She also posted a .366 attack percentage, eight service aces, 53 digs and nine block solo for the week. Rountree had 19 kills and only three errors in 40 total attempts for a .400 attack percentage in Principia's 3-1 win (25-23, 22-25, 25-13, 25-23) over Eureka College. She also added 13 digs for her first of three double-doubles on the week.

Rountree recorded a .421 attack percentage with 17 kills and one error in a 3-0 victory versus Midway College. She added 11 kills, 16 digs and four service aces in a 3-0 win against St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Rountree finished the week with a high of 26 kills and 18 digs in a 3-2 loss (28-26, 19-25, 19-25, 25-21, 8-15) to Oakland City University, and she earned All-Tournament Team honors at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Invitational.
