Greenville's Coon Has Record-Setting Week to Earn Second Volleyball Offensive Player Honors

St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of September 26-October 2.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Principia College's Wylie Mangelsdorf, a sophomore from Palmer, Alaska, has been named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of September 26-October 2. This marks the second consecutive week that he has earned the honor.

Mangelsdorf won the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College with a time of 26:03.28. He outlasted teammate Drew Clark, who finished right behind him in second place with a time of 26:14.29. Mangelsdorf placed first out of 115 runners, while helping lead Principia to a second place finish out of 15 teams competing.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Principia College's Casey Powell, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., has been named the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of September 26-October 2. This marks the fourth time this season that she has earned the honor, including the third consecutive week.

Powell finished second out of 98 runners at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College. She posted a time of 23:44 on a soft, wooded-trail course. Powell entered the last mile of the 6K 28 seconds behind the leader and closed to within two seconds at the line. Principia finished second out of 15 teams competing.

MEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE
Greenville College's David Dunlop, a senior from Coleraine, North Ireland, has been named the Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 26-October 2.

Dunlop, a 6-0 forward, recorded four goals and one assist for a total of nine points in two games played last week. He scored two goals, including the game-winning goal in a 2-1 overtime victory against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Dunlop added two goals and one assist in a 9-0 win versus Spalding University.

MEN'S SOCCER - DEFENSIVE
Webster University's Alex Cupp, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Lutheran South), has been named the Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 26-October 2.

Cupp, a 5-9 goalkeeper, recorded his second shutout of the season with a 5-0 victory versus Eureka College. He now has a 0.93 goals-against average for the season.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE
Webster University's Lauren Scalise, a freshman from Chicago, Ill. (York), has been named the Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 26-October 2.

Scalise, a 5-4 forward, tallied one goal and four assists in a 10-0 shutout versus Eureka College.

"Lauren [Scalise] is technically sound and has good field awareness," said Webster head coach Luigi Scire. "She has an uncanny instinct for the game and an incredible competitive fire. Those two qualities combine to create a smart and driven athlete."

VOLLEYBALL - OFFENSIVE
Greenville College's Corinne Coon, a sophomore from Warsaw, Ind. (Warsaw Community), has been named the Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 26-October 2. This marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Coon, a 5-10, opposite side hitter, finished with 45 kills, 11 digs and six blocks in three matches played last week. She had a season and career-high in a five-set battle with Webster University. Coon finished with 25 kills for an average of 5.0 kills per set, while also posting a .345 attack percentage, six digs and two block assists. Coon added nine kills in only two sets played against Blackburn College, and she recorded 11 kills, five digs and three blocks versus Eureka College.

Greenville went 2-1 on the week, defeating Blackburn and Eureka in three sets each. The Panthers lost to Webster in five sets, 22-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 13-15.

VOLLEYBALL - DEFENSIVE
Westminster College's Megan Boschert, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo. (Rosati Kain), has been named the Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 26-October 2. This marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Boschert, a 5-5 libero, averaged a little more than seven digs per set in three matches played last week. She had 23 digs and two service aces in a 3-0 win (28-26, 25-23, 25-14) versus Central Methodist. Boschert followed that performance with 24 digs in a 3-1 loss (25-18, 14-25, 19-25, 17-25) to William Woods. Finally, she ended the week with a high of 38 digs and one service ace in a 3-2 conference loss (20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-19, 12-15) against Spalding University.
