Principia and Webster Honored by United Soccer Coaches

Principia College and Webster University women's soccer teams were honored by the United Soccer Coaches for sportsmanship this past season, earning the Team Ethics & Sportsmanship Award.

Principia earned the silver level of the award, which is designated for teams whose accumulation of yellow and red cards fall between 11-30 percent of its games played. Principia received just three yellow cards this season, accounting for 12% of their games played.

Webster earned the bronze level of the honor for the eighth consecutive season. The bronze level is designated for teams whose accumulation of yellow and red cards falls between 31-50 percent of its games played. This past fall, the Gorloks picked up 10 yellow cards and zero red cards, accounting for 50%.

It is the 12th time in the program's 21-year history that the Gorloks have earned this award from the United Soccer Coaches. The USC awards platinum, gold, silver, and bronze levels and in 2019 only 93 college women's teams nationally in all divisions (NCAA I, II, III, NAIA and NCCAA) were recognized by the United Soccer Coaches.

Principia and Webster are the only teams from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to be recognized by the United Soccer Coaches. In total, 143 college and high school teams from across the country were recognized.
