Greenville Takes 3rd Straight Title

Greenville University took its 3rd straight SLIAC Women's Indoor Track and Field title on Saturday, finishing with a conference championship record 281 points, bringing home 10 gold medals on the day. Cayden Sharp accounted for half the golds herself, winning the long jump, high jump, triple jump, 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter dash, and 200-meter dash. 

Other Panthers to take home gold medals were Talahiva Talanoa (Weight Throw) and Tawny Rodriguez (Shot Put) as well as the relay teams in the 4x400 (Alexis Roberts, Kiera Coleman, Vanessa Compton, and Eyonna Owens) and Distance Medley (Sedina Logan, Brooklyn McKee, Keiko Palen, and Brook Schutt). Talanoa shattered the conference championship mark with a distance of 51'3.75". 

The Panthers ended up sweeping the podium in several events including the high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, and 200-meter dash. 

Webster University came in 2nd place in the team rankings with 48 total points. Vanessa Jones took home the only gold for the Gorloks, winning the pole vault with a height of 7'11.5"; a conference championship record. She also won silver in the 60-meter hurdles while Isabelle Llewellyn took home bronze in the weight throw.

Principia College finished 3rd with 32 points. Mirsa Boyer had six of the Panthers' points with her third-place showing in the pole vault. 

Eureka College notched 30 points for a 4th place showing and picked up the program's first-ever gold medals. Karissa Heffernan took home gold in both the 1 Mile run and 3000-meter run while Rachel Fisher was first in the 800-meter run. 

Fontbonne University totaled 27 points behind Alexa Lofgren's first-place finish in the 400 meters. Lofgren wins just the third gold medal in Griffin history. Madelyn Huffstetter won silver in the 60-meter dash

Blackburn College had 10 points with six of those coming from the distance medley relay team of Molly Koskey, Michayne Weber, Elizabeth Morris, and Olivia Leemon. 

Westminster College totaled 8 points thanks to Moenaisa Sidique's second-place finish in the 400-meters. 

Spalding University notched 2 points on the day from Lexie Barthmaier in the 3000-meter and Dawn Wilson in the 60-meter hurdles.
