Greenville Men to Face No. 8 Dominican (Ill.) in NCAA First Round

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Greenville men's soccer team is paired with No. 8 Dominican University in the first round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. The game is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m.

The NCAA appearance is Greenville's second straight and third in four years. The Panthers advanced to the tournament by virtue of a 2-0 win over Webster Saturday afternoon in the SLIAC tournament championship.

Over the course of the 2011 season, Greenville squared off with three teams who qualified for the NCAA championships. The Panthers defeated Rose-Hulman and lost to Washington - St. Louis and Trinity (Texas) earlier this season.

Greenville is led by David Dunlop with a team-high 11 goals and three assists for a total of 25 points. Cobi Allen has recorded nine goals and four assists this season, while Dan Taylor and David Cole have both recorded a team-best five assists. In goal, the Panthers have relied on Nathan Haas to be the anchor in the backfield. Haas has allowed only 14 goals in 1415:45 minutes of play for a 0.89 goals-against average. He has also tallied 57 saves and has three shutouts and a 11-6-1 overall record.
