Webster's Todt to be Inducted into St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame

ST. LOUIS - Marty Todt, in his 24th season as Webster University head men's soccer coach, will be inducted into the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame on October 13. Todt enters the Soccer Hall with other St. Louis soccer luminaries, including the late Slobo Ilijevski, the face of the St. Louis Steamers indoor soccer franchise.

Todt will be inducted in a ceremony at the Millennium Hotel in downtown St. Louis. He will be one of ten members of the Hall Of Fame class of 2011. Todt was voted into the HOF in February.

Todt has led the Gorloks to four St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles, four SLIAC Conference Tournament Championships, and to the NCAA III National Tournament four different years. He is one of top active men's coaches in the NCAA Division III in wins, with 224 career victories. Hired as Webster's head coach in 1988, his 23 years at Webster makes Todt the 'dean' of the Webster Athletic coaching staff.

A standout player at St. Mary's High School and the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Todt also had a stellar career playing on senior men's teams including the Budweiser 0-30 National Championship Team in 1988. Todt likes to note that "he was the only member of that team who didn't play professionally." Todt previously coached college soccer at the St. Louis Community College at Meramec before coming to Webster.

He is a 1992 Webster graduate, with a degree in management. His son Jeff and daughter Amy are both graduates of Webster and were student/athletes while at the University. Jeff played soccer for his father for two years. Dominic DeVasto (SR, St. John Vianney HS), a four-year player for Todt noted, "How many players have the opportunity to be coached by someone who is already a hall of famer in their sport?"

Todt's current edition of the Gorloks men's soccer team is 2-0 in the SLIAC, and 5-5-1 overall.
