SLIAC Announces Final Basketball Athletes of the Week for 2012-13 Season
St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of February 11-17.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Spalding University's Jametrius Brasher,
a senior from Louisville, Ky. (Male), has been named the Men's
Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 11-17.
Brasher, a forward, averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks last week to help lead the Golden Eagles to their first SLIAC regular season championship. He had 18 points on 9-of-10 (.900) shooting from the field, four rebounds and five blocked shots in a 68-66 victory over Westminster College (Mo.) that secured the top spot and hosting rights for the 2013 SLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament. Brasher then added 12 points on 5-of-6 (.833) shooting, four rebounds and two assists in an 86-63 win versus Fontbonne University.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Spalding University's Kelly Harrod, a
senior from Mt. Washington, Ky., has been named the Women's
Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 11-17. This
marks the third time this season that she has earned the honor.
Harrod, a forward, recorded two double-doubles last week, marking her 14th and 15th respectively this season, and averaged 15.0 points and 12.5 rebounds. She had 14 points and 15 rebounds in a 58-50 win versus Westminster College (Mo.). Harrod then scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a 60-48 win over Fontbonne University. The two wins helped Spalding secure a spot in the 2012-13 SLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament.
