Principia's Kelly Adams Named Women's Tennis Player & Newcomer of the Year; 15 Receive All-Conference Honors

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the 2012 All-Conference Women's Tennis Team and special award winners.

Principia College's Kelly Adams was named both Player and Newcomer of the Year after posting a 4-0 record at #1 Singles in conference play. Adams, who was 9-7 overall at #1 Singles and 1-0 at #2 Singles this season, earned First Team All-Conference honors at #1 Singles and was also named Honorable Mention All-SLIAC at #1 Doubles along with partner Courtney Banko.

Webster University head coach Mike Siener was named the 2012 SLIAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year. Siener led Webster to its second conference tournament title, while earning coach of the year for the third time in four years. His squad finished 6-0 in conference play and stood at 19-2 overall.

Greenville College received the Sportsmanship Award for the second time and first since 2006. The team Sportsmanship Award is given to the team whose players, coaches and fans best exhibit the principles of good sportsmanship. The SLIAC also recognizes one individual from each team, selected by his coach and teammates, who throughout the season best displays the ideals fo sportsmanship. The 2012 All-Sportsmanship Team includes Jessie Johnson (Blackburn), Rachel Funk (Eureka), Libby Brauss (Fontbonne), Chelsie Evans (Greenville), Courtney Banko (Principia), Kathleen Kennedy (Webster) and Amy Osborn (Westminster).
