Panthers Second at Select Meet

The Greenville University men's track and field team took second place as they hosted a Select Meet on Friday, featuring 14 teams including five from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Panthers compiled 166 team points on the day, finishing behind only WashU, who had 294.50 points.

Nate Brown led the way for the Panthers. He took home a pair of 1st place finishes. In the discus he threw 150'11" and in the shot put he finished with a mark of 48'11.75". He also finished 2nd in the hammer throw with a distance of 156'8". Colton Rich took 1st in the javelin with a distance of 147'1". Wesley Kile had a 2nd place showing in the pole vault, with a mark of 15'1". The Greenville 4x100 relay team placed first with a time of 41.66 seconds while Dylan Goodyear won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:16.11. CJ Anderson was the fastest man on the day, winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.64 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 21.99 seconds. The Panthers' 4x400 relay team finished 2nd with a time of 3:23.74.

Westminster College took 8th place with 17 points. Devonte Hubbard picked up three of those points with his 6th place finish in the high jump. The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams each added a 6th place finish.

Principia College was 9th with 16 points. Mitchell Gill had the highest finish for Principia on the day, finishing 2nd in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.49 seconds. Tobin Blair placed 5th in the javelin with a distance of 130'11". 

Both Eureka College and Fontbonne University had competitors but did not tally a team score. Javier Garcia led the Red Devils with his showing in the 1500-meter run, finishing in 4:52.55. Fontbonne's Ian Cordell was 10th in the javelin and Andre Webb 10th in the 200-meter dash to lead the Griffins.
