Four from SLIAC Qualify for Indoor Nationals

Four competitors from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference have qualified for the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships. Those from the conference that will compete at nationals are CJ Anderson, Nate Brown, Danielle Schultz, and Cayden Sharp.

Anderson is a sprinter from Greenville University. Anderson will be running in the 60-meter dash this weekend after qualifying with a time of 6.83 seconds, coming at the NCCAA Indoor Championships back on February 11. That time places him 14th in the prelims. He has two SLIAC Athlete of the Week awards this year.

The Panthers are also sending thrower, Nate Brown, who qualified in the weight throw. Brown's distance of 60'3" puts him 12th nationally. He has had a strong season, picking up three SLIAC Player of the Week awards and golds in both the shot put and weight throw at the SLIAC Indoor Championship.

Two women will be representing the SLIAC this weekend at nationals; Schultz and Sharp. Schultz is a junior runner from Webster University and qualified for nationals in the 800-meter run. Her qualifying time of 2:16.87 places her 20th this season in Division III. That time came last week, at the Wartburg College Qualifier Meet and was a school record. She won one Athlete of the Week award during the indoor season and was named the 2022 SLIAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Sharp, a junior at Greenville University, qualified in the pentathlon. Sharp's point total of 3258 was 14th best in the country this season, compiling those numbers at the Principia College Relays back on January 28. Sharp has won two Athlete of the Week awards this season and is the conference's all-time leader in conference championship medals.
