Track and Field Championships to Include Five SLIAC Individuals

Five individuals from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference have qualified to compete at the upcoming 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. In addition, one relay team from the conference will be running next weekend.

Corey Carter, from Principia College, qualified in the 200-meter dash; securing his spot on the final weekend. Carter qualified with a time of 21.21 seconds, putting him 12th in Division III this season. Carter captured SLIAC gold this spring in the 200 meters. He previously took home a national championship in 2019, winning the 200-meters in a time of 20.89 seconds and he is a two-time outdoor All-American. 

Greenville University fills out the remaining list of qualifiers this spring. Leading the way is C.J. Anderson who qualified in the 100-meter dash. Anderson qualified with a time of 10.43 seconds and was the SLIAC Champion in the event this past spring. His qualifying time places him 12th in the country. 

Dylan Goodyear will compete in the 3000 Steeplechase. He had a season-best time of 9:07.86 this spring, placing him 18th in D3. Nate Brown will be competing in the shot put. The Panther threw a season best mark of 52'6.5" to qualify 17th this year. 

In addition, the Greenville men's 4x100 relay team of Chase LaTouche, Carson Rantanen, Tyshawn Hamilton, and C.J. Anderson will make the trip to nationals. They qualified with a time of 41.11 seconds, the 15th fastest in the nation this spring.

The lone female qualifying for nationals is Cayden Sharp, from Greenville. Sharp, the league's all-time leading medalist, qualified in the heptathlon with a score of 4595. That point total places her 8th in Division III this spring. 

The 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place May 26-28 in Geneva, Ohio at SPIRE Institute. For each men's individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each women's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
