Gorloks Capture Second Straight Regular Season Title

This afternoon the Webster University men's soccer team was back on the pitch when they traveled to Eureka, Illinois, to take on the Eureka (Ill.) College Red Devils in a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks were able to defeat the Red Devils by a final score of 6-0 to improve to 15-1-1 on the season and 11-0-1 in conference play. The loss moves the Red Devils to 0-14 on the season and 0-12 in the SLIAC.

With the win today, the Gorloks have captured the SLIAC Men's Soccer Regular Season Title and home-field advantage in the SLIAC Men's Soccer Tournament. This is their second straight SLIAC Men's Soccer Regular Season Title and its ninth overall.

Webster outshot the Red Devils 34-4 in the contest and was able to put 13 shots on target compared to just two from Eureka. The Gorloks also led in the corner count as they finished with 12 corners in the game while the Red Devils did not record a corner.

After 43 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Gorloks were able to get on the scoreboard with just over a minute to play in the first half. James Carr had the goal for the Gorloks as he finished off a cross from Chase Boushard for his third tally of the season to give Webster a 1-0 lead at the half. The assists were Boushards'i fourth of the season.

The Gorloks picked it up in the second half and were able to score five goals in the frame. Isaac Pearson (1), Carlos Llamas (9), Aamahn Murvin (13), Justin Kohler (4), and James Carr (4) all had the goals for Webster in the second half. Hunter Olaso (2) had two assists in the half, Isaac Pearson (8) had two assists in the half, and Tanner Haugen (4) added an assist for the Gorloks.

Matt Coffey and Jacob Klevorn split time in goal today for the Gorloks as they combined to record two saves in the team's 11th shutout of the year.

The Gorloks are back in action on Wednesday, October 27th when they play host to the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers in their final regular-season home game. The match is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
