SLIAC Players of the Week - October 4

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for October 4, 2021.

Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
   

Gianni Estrada, Greenville University

Competing at the Brissman Lundeen Invitational, Estrada placed 20th in a field of over 300 runners. The sophomore completed the 8K course in a time of 25:57, a pace of 5:13 per mile. He has been the team's top finisher in all three races this fall. 

Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
 

Kyanne Williams, Webster University

Williams placed 36th in a field of 297 runners at the Brissman Lundeen Invitational. She finished with a time of 23:46, a personal best in the 6K, and a mile pace of 6:22. This marks the first race this fall she has been the first Gorlok to cross the finish line. 

Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
   

Carlos Llamas, Webster University

Llamas, a sophomore, tallied 3 goals and 1 assist for 7 total points in two games last week. The forward buried two goals in a 3-0 win over Westminster, scoring his two goals on just four shots. He followed with a goal and an assist in his team's win over Eureka, helping the Gorloks extend its winning streak to seven games. 

     
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
   

Justin Atkinson, Blackburn College

Led a Beaver defense that blanked two conference opponents, helping extend the team's winning streak to four games. The freshman defender stepped up when his fellow backline players went down, helping the Beavers to their first shutouts on the season.

     
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
   

Krystal Kohenskey, Fontbonne University

Kohenskey led the Griffins attack last week, playing a role in six of her team's nine goals on the week. Kohenskey had 2 goals and 2 assists in a 5-0 win over Blackburn and followed with two more helpers in a 4-0 victory over Eureka. She currently leads the conference in assists this season with six. 

     
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
   

Taryn Banfield, Webster University

Banfield picked up a pair of wins in net for the Gorloks, stopping three shots in two games. She made two saves in an overtime win over Westminster and followed with one save while recording her 3rd shutout of the season in a win over Eureka. On the week she finished with a .750 save percentage and a 0.46 goals-against average.

     
Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week
   

Eryka Wanyonyi, Westminster College

Wanyonyi, a junior, helped the Blue Jays to five wins on the week, totaling 78 kills. She averaged 4.88 kills per set, hitting .362 in those matches while adding 12 aces and 52 digs. Waynyonyi had a high of 24 kills against Spalding, adding 23 digs in the match, and reached double-digit kills in all five matches. She finished with 92 points on the week, averaging 5.8 per set.

     
Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
   

Emma Pramik, Fontbonne University

Pramik anchored the Griffin defense last week, totaling 62 digs in four matches that included three wins. The senior averaged 4.77 digs per set and had a high of 22 digs in a win over Blackburn; adding a career-high 8 aces. She reached double-digit digs in three of her matches and currently ranks 3rd in the conference in digs per set.

  • Trent Calvert, Fontbonne University (Soccer) Netted two goals in a win over Eureka.
  • Matt Coffey, Webster University (Soccer) Stopped all five shots in a 3-0 win over Westminster.
  • Claire Dalton, Fontbonne University (Soccer) Led a defense that recorded two shutouts while also adding 1 goal and 1 assist from her defender position.
  • Luis Duran, Greenville (Soccer) Had two goals, including the game-winner, against Principia.
  • Jadyn Fitzgerald, Fontbonne University (Volleyball) Had a double-double against Eureka and three matches with double-digit kills on the week.
  • Jenna Frisella, Westminster College (Soccer) Had points in all three of her team's games last week, totaling 2 goals and 1 assist.
  • Ahmadou Gueye, Spalding University (Soccer) Scored one goal in each of his team's wins last week.
  • Mary Nelson, Webster University (Volleyball) Totaled 32 digs and 6 blocks in two matches for the Gorloks last week.
  • Zibo Siamsipa, Blackburn College (Soccer) Recorded 4 points in two wins last week for the Beavers.
  • Mackenzie Sundhausen, Webster University (Soccer) Tallied 2 goals and 1 assist in a win over Eureka.
  • Bailey Whitehead, Spalding University (Soccer) Scored both of her team's goals in a 2-0 win over Principia.
