Four Teams Receive AVCA Team Academic Award

2020 AVCA TEAM ACADEMIC AWARD RECIPIENTS

Four teams from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference have received the Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association for the 2019 season. Blackburn College, Greenville University, Principia College, and Webster University were recognized by the national organization for their success in the classroom for the 2019-20 academic year.

Overall, the AVCA had a record 1,313 teams, including 231 from NCAA Division III, receive a Team Academic Award for the 2019-20 season.

This marks the first time in program history that Blackburn has received the AVCA Team Academic Award. Greenville is receiving its 9th award and second consecutive while Principia picks up its 11th award and seventh straight. Webster extends their current award streak to 12 and this year marks the 14th award in program history. In addition, Webster was one of only 19 NCAA Division III Team Academic Award recipients that also reached its "Dig Pink" fundraising goals through the Side-Out Foundation.

The Team Academic Award was created in 1992 by the AVCA and recognizes teams who have matched their dedication to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom. Teams must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale for the year or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
