SLIAC Game of the Week - Iowa Wesleyan Quad

This week's volleyball quad at Iowa Wesleyan University is the SLIAC Game of the Week. Conference play hits on Saturday with four teams meeting for SLIAC matches. Iowa Wesleyan will play host to Eureka College, MacMurray College, and Westminster College with dual courts happening at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Eureka faces Iowa Wesleyan while MacMurray and Westminster square off at noon. The second set of matches will be Eureka against Westminster and Iowa Wesleyan versus MacMurray.

Eureka College 'RED DEVILS'     Overall Record: 3-4     SLIAC Record: 0-0

Eureka is coming off a 3-0 loss to Benedictine and will have had 10 days off between matches when they take the court on Saturday for their SLIAC opener. The Red Devils are powered by the duo of Caitlin Miller and Annaliese Miller. Caitlin leasd the team with 49 kills, averaging 2.13 per set while Annaliese has 47 kills and an average of 2.04 per set. Sara Worrell runs the attack and is averaging 7.00 assists per set while also leading the team with 11 service aces. Defensively it is a team effort with Worrell and Paige Klingler each tallying over 80 digs this season.

Iowa Wesleyan University 'TIGERS'     Overall Record: 3-7    SLIAC Record: 0-1

It was a tale of two weekends for the Tigers. Two weekends ago they went 3-1 in the Mount Mary Tournament but last weekend they dropped all four matches in the Knox Tournament. Iowa Wesleyan is hitting .138 as a team, 3rd in the SLIAC, and leads the league with 87 aces. Lida Landre is off to a strong start this season. The junior has continued to grow and has already totaled 112 kills this season while hitting .220. Ariel Smale and Paige Kammerer rotate setting duties while Jenna Murphy is one of the top liberos in the SLIAC, ranking 3rd with 195 digs this season. 

MacMurray College 'HIGHLANDERS'     Overall Record: 5-5     SLIAC Record: 0-0

For the second straight weekend, the Highlanders will be busy, playing four matches in a two-day span. This weekend they face North Central and Central on Friday night before beginning SLIAC competition on Saturday. It was quite the weekend last weekend, in addition to coming into this weekend on a two-match win streak, the Highlanders saw three players put their name into the record books in their last time on the court. Janelle Benson tallied her 1,000th career assist while Carissa Smith set a new single-game digs record (39) and Kamryn Flesner broke the single-game aces record (8). 

Westminster College 'BLUE JAYS'     Overall Record: 2-5     SLIAC Record: 0-0

It will have been a full week between matches for the Blue Jays when they return to action on Saturday. They will be looking to shake off a 3-1 loss to Aurora, a match in which they took the opening set. Ashley Kistaitis is back for the Blue Jays after missing last year. She is currently leading the team with 65 kills and is third on the team in digs. The trio of Allie Kennebeck, Natalie Needy, and Sarah Rivers are still trying to find their form after each topping 200 kills last season. Teresa Becker is averaging 7.04 assists per set while Eric Schrader leads the team with 90 digs.
