Principia, Webster Men's & Women's Soccer Recognized for Academics by NSCAA

ST. LOUIS - The Principia College and Webster University men's and women's soccer teams have been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with Team Academic Awards for 2010. 

The Gorloks women's soccer team had a cumulative 3.52 grade point average (GPA), which was the 16th highest out of 444 women's programs awarded nationwide. The Principia women had a cumulative 3.34 GPA, which ranked 34th overall.  The Webster men had a cumulative 3.30 GPA, and was the 18th highest GPA out of 196 men's programs awarded. The Panthers men's soccer team had a cumulative GPA of 3.23, which was the 25th highest overall.

Principia and Webster were two of 133 colleges nationally that had both its men's and women's teams so recognized.

The NSCAA awards include soccer teams from all colleges, at all levels of play (NCAA I, II, III, and NAIA).  Over 1900 teams are eligible and a total of 640 teams (196 men, 444 women) earned the NSCAA award for 2010.  Teams must have maintained a cumulative 3.0 grade point average for all players on their rosters, for the full academic year (2009-10), to qualify.
