Field Set for 2011 SLIAC Baseball Championships

ST. LOUIS - Webster University, Greenville College, Fontbonne University and Westminster College comprise the four-team field for the 2011 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Championships that will be held this Thursday-Saturday, May 12-14, at Glik Park in Highland, Illinois.

Top-seeded Webster is the 2011 league champion and the defending tournament champion, and meets #4 Seed Westminster at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in first-round action. #2 Seed Greenville faces #3 Seed Fontbonne in another first-round contest. The losers of the first-round games play an elimination game Thursday evening and the tournament continues Friday and Saturday. The tournament winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

2011 SLIAC Tournament Field

#1 Seed, Webster (28-11): Captured its fifth consecutive league title this season and sixth in the last seven years...defending tournament champion and looking for its fifth tournament title...is 17-11 in 14 tournament appearances...

#2 Seed, Greenville (17-21): Is in search of its first-ever tournament title...stands 9-18 all-time in 10 tournament appearances...

#3 Seed, Fontbonne (17-23): Is looking for its third tournament title after winning crowns in 1998 and 2009...is 14-8 in seven tournament appearances...

#4 Seed, Westminster (18-19): Is looking for its fourth tournament title after taking home trophies in 1994, 1995 and 1999...stands 21-12 in 10 tournament appearances...

Note: Spalding University finished second in the league standings at 20-4, but is not eligible for tournament play as it completes its NCAA membership probation.
