Webster's Dye Headlines SLIAC Women's Soccer All-Conference Team

Webster University placed a league high six players on the 2014 SLIAC Women's Soccer All-Conference First Team and a total of 10 players on the All-Conference teams. The list was highlighted by 2014 SLIAC Co-Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, Kayla Dye. Spalding University's Dee Dee Sliter was named Co-Player of the Year along with Dye. The SLIAC honored Co-Defensive Players of the Year as well with Abby Rockers, from Westminster College, and Amy Schield, from Webster University, earning honors. Fontbonne University head coach Brian Hoener was named the 2014 SLIAC Coach of the Year.

Dye becomes the fifth player in conference history to earn Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year honors in the same season and the first since 2008 when Principia College's Alicia Girbes-Pierce won both awards. Dye, a freshman forward from St. Louis, Mo., was the focal point of a Gorlok offense that led the SLIAC in goals, nearly doubling the next closest team's output. She totaled eight goals and eight assists for 24 total points in just nine conference games. Dye is just the fourth player in program history to take home top conference honors and the second in a row.

Sliter, a sophomore from Louisville, Mo., led the conference in scoring this season netting 12 goals in just nine games. She added six assists and totaled a league high 30 points while also scoring a conference best three game winning goals. Sliter was named SLIAC Newcomer of the Year last year and is the first player in program history to take home Player of the Year honors.

Rockers, a freshman defender from Jefferson City, Mo., was part of a defense that allowed just seven goals during conference action. Rockers and the Blue Jays finished the year with five shutouts. Schield, a senior defender from Belleville, Ill., anchored the league's stingiest defense. With Schield guarding the backline the Gorloks allowed a league low one goal while recording eight shutouts.

Hoener wrapped up his fourth season as head coach of the Fontbonne women's soccer team. He guided them to a 15-4-2 overall record this season, tying the program record for wins in a season. This marks the second time Hoener has been named the SLIAC Coach of the Year, he also won in 2012.

Greenville College received the SLIAC Team Sportsmanship Award for the first time since the award's inception in 2005. The team Sportsmanship Award is given to the team whose players, coaches and fans best exhibit the principles of good sportsmanship. The SLIAC also recognizes one individual from each team, selected by his coach and teammates, who throughout the season best displays the ideals of sportsmanship. The 2014 All-Sportsmanship Team includes Mary Chamberlain (Blackburn College), Faith Williams (Eureka College), Paige Pfankuch (Fontbonne University), Lexi Baysinger (Greenville College), Katie Bang (Iowa Wesleyan College), Alexis Mitchell (MacMurray College), Becca DeNicholas (Principia College), Amanda Weber (Spalding University), Brianna Pagan (Webster University), and Brittany Paglusch (Westminster College).
