Tigers Break School Three-Point Record

The Tiger Men's Basketball team picked up another win today and broke the IW record for 3-pointers made in one game while they were at it. The Tigers had 11 players who put points on the board in their 104-75 win over the Spalding University Golden Eagles.

The IW record for 3-pointers scored in a game was 20 3-pointers, which was set in 2002. Today, the Tigers had 12 made 3-pointers going into halftime. With just over 6 minutes remaining in the half, Jett Tjaden (SO/Burlington, IA) put in a 3-pointer to tie the old record. Less than two minutes later, Austin Banks (SR/Apopka, FL) drained a 3, allowing the 2019-20 IW Men's Basketball team to join the history books once again. Martell Andrews (SR/Lansing, IL) and Nico Sheck (SO/Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia) both scored a 3 after that, making the new 3-point record 23 made in one game.

Tjaden was the leading scorer for the Tigers tonight, going 7-11 behind the 3-point line and totaling 23 points. Jake Neubauer (SR/Amana, IA) put up 21 points and added 7 assists.

Jarryd Fernandes (JR/Sydney, Australia) recorded another double-double tonight, scoring 13 points and securing 10 rebounds. Alberto Torres (JR/Madrid, Spain) tallied 13 points also. Austin Banks added 10 points.

IW was able to shoot 40.9% from the field, 41.8% behind the arc, and 90% from the free-throw line.

The Tigers will be at home again next Wednesday as they host Blackburn College. The Tigers will be participating in a Red Out to raise awareness for heart disease. The Men's team will tip things off at 7:30 pm directly following the Women's game, which is set to begin at 5:30 pm.
