Pollard To Be Enshrined to Hall of Fame

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference would like to congratulate Gerry Pollard on his enshrinement into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Pollard has been the Men's Basketball Supervisor of Officials for the SLIAC since 2014 and will be among the 20 members of the 2020 Missouri Sports Hall of Fame class.

"The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is extremely fortunate to have a person of Gerry Pollard's stature, knowledge, and expertise as our basketball officials assignor. His dedication to officiating, his mentorship of new officials and just his overall professionalism has definitely made the basketball officiating in the SLIAC better each year," said SLIAC Commissioner Dr. Dick Kaiser.

Pollard, a fixture in men's basketball officiating for over 30 years, joined the SLIAC as the Supervisor of Officials in 2014. His duties with the SLIAC include assigning officials for all men's basketball contests hosted by conference schools, providing leadership and technical expertise to officials, evaluating the performance of all officials with input from league coaches, and serving as the liaison between the conference and officiating staff.

"Being inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame is such a prestigious honor and to be able to do it representing the Officiating Community and College Athletics is very rewarding for me personally," said Pollard. "To go in with this class of people and to see the names on the wall is still unbelievable to me. I just want to thank everyone who had something to do with this and I have met along the way."

His career spans 33 years, including 27 as an NCAA Division I men's basketball official that includes working in the Big 12 Conference, Southeastern Conference, Pac-12 Conference, Missouri Valley Conference, Mountain West Conference, and Conference USA. He has worked the finals of the Big 12 Tournament, Missouri Valley Tournament, and the Elite 8 and Sweet 16 of the Division I national tournament. As an assignor for the SLIAC and two other collegiate conferences, Pollard is responsible for more than 240 officials for 58 schools in six states.

Pollard will be among the 20 inductees for the 2020 Missouri Sports Hall of Fame class which also includes Derrick Johnson (Kansas City Chiefs), Terry Pendleton (St. Louis Cardinals), Ned Yost (Kansas City Royals), Justin Smith (University of Missouri & NFL), Allen Treadwell (TV Personality), and Don West (Broadcasting).
