Spalding and Webster In Latest ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Poll

Spalding and Webster In Latest ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Poll

Webster University made the largest jump for any team in this week's ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Division III poll, moving up 13 spots to #14 while fellow St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member Spalding University is making their first appearance on the poll this season at #27 in the rankings.

Webster, who moved into the poll at #27 last week, jumped up 13 spots with 226 points after knocking off three ranked opponents last week. The Gorloks run through their Florida trip included wins over #10 Southern Maine, #11 St. Scholastica, and #24 Wheaton as well as victories over Rhodes, Ripon, and Rutgers-Camden. The Gorloks are currently 9-3 overall and have won eight of their last nine games with that lone loss coming to #25 ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Spalding meanwhile climbed into the rankings after defeating then top-ranked Massachusetts-Boston 11-9 in the Golden Eagles final game of their Florida trip. Spalding is off to a 12-3 start this season and has shown an explosive offense, tallying double-digit runs in seven games, while being led by last year's Division III strikeout leader Jimi Keating.
