Pair of Gorloks Earn Academic All-District Honors

A pair of Webster University players have earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for the 2021 season. Lauren Borik and Kyra Gensel were recognized for their efforts in the classroom and on the volleyball court with both players earning First Team honors and were the only two players from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to receive the honors.

Borik, a junior outside hitter, is a Business major and carries a 3.90 grade-point average. This fall she won her second straight SLIAC Player of the Year award, leading the team in kills (323) while finishing second on the team in digs (284) and total blocks (49). She led the conference in kills per set (3.55) while finishing second in kills (323) and hitting percentage (.310).

Gensel, a senior defensive specialist, is a biology major with an impressive 3.99-grade point average. She led the team with 364 total digs on the year while recording a team-high 3.64 digs per set. She finished with double-digit digs in 19 matches on the year and this is her second straight Academic All-District award.

The 2021 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First, Second, and Third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-December.
