Massner Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team was announced this morning and Iowa Wesleyan University's Darby Massner was named to First Team Academic All-District® as a representative of District 8 which is made up of twenty-one states and Canada. She is the lone student-athlete from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to earn the honor this season.

Massner is a Business Administration major at Iowa Wesleyan University and currently holds a 4.0 grade point average. This season, Massner played a vital role for the women's basketball team. She led the team in scoring, averaging 14.7 points per game, and also grabbed a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game.  She finished the season shooting just over 32 percent from the field and three-point range. Massner was also named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Player of the week on November 20, 2017.

As a junior, Massner has already made her mark on the IW women's basketball program.  She is a two time-SLIAC All-Academic Team recipient, as well as a two time United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National All-Academic Team award winner.  In 2016-17, Massner earned Third Team All-Conference and All-Sportsmanship Team honors for the SLIAC. She also earned USCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2015-16.

The Academic All-District® Teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada, and the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program recognizes individuals in four divisions of NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and College Division. Each division's honorees are separately recognized.
