SLIAC Players of the Week - December 18
Brent Long and Ashley Harfst are the SLIAC Players of the Week for December 18, 2017, marking the final awards before the start of the new year.
SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - DECEMBER 18 Brent Long, MacMurray College Long, a senior from Franklin, Illinois, becomes the first MacMurray College player to win SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week since the 2015-16 season. Long tallied a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds while helping the Highlanders to their first conference win of the season; a 64-60 victory over Spalding. Long went 9-of-13 from the field and recorded a double-double in the first half of the game alone, with 15 points and 10 rebounds in helping MacMurray hold an 11 point lead at halftime. But as Spalding closed in late, the Highlanders turned to Long who had two of his team's final four baskets down the stretch to secure the win. |

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - DECEMBER 18 Ashley Harfst, Eureka College This week's SLIAC Womens' Basketball Player of the Week, Ashley Harfst, came off the bench to spark the Red Devils to a conference win. Harfst, a sophomore guard, entered midway through the first quarter and didn't leave the court for the rest of the game; finishing with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Harfst knocked down three of six three-point attempts while grabbing three offensive rebounds. She also added two steals in the game as she recorded her third double-double this season. |
