SLIAC Players of the Week - October 17

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for October 17, 2022

     
Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
   

Gianni Estrada, Greenville University

Estrada captured his second straight win, taking 1st place at the Greenville Classic. He finished last weekend's 8K course in a time of 25:02, besting 77 other runners in the field. His time was among the 10 fastest in program history and two minutes faster than his previous race.

Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week  
 

Gretchen Carie, Greenville University

Carie finished 3rd overall at the Greenville Classic. She completed the 5k race in a time of 19:53 and was the top SLIAC runner in a field of 53 competitors. Her time was a personal best and she helped the Panthers to a 2nd place team finish. 

Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
 

Mark Moore, Webster University

Moore helped the Gorloks go undefeated last week, notching two goals and one assist in two conference games. He scored a go-ahead goal against Greenville and added a goal and assist in a 3-0 win over Westminster. He finished the week with five points and four shots on goal.

Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
  Gavin O'Donley, Spalding University

O'Donley helped the Golden Eagles to a win and tie last week against two conference opponents. He stopped four shots in a tie against Fontbonne and added four more saves in a win over Eureka. On the week he finished with a .800 save percentage and a 1.04 goals-against average.

Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week    
 

Grace Rodgers, Webster University

Rodgers finished her week with two big timely goals for the Gorloks. She scored the game's only goal in a 1-0 win over Greenville and was a force all game long, getting off eight shots. Three days later she tallied the game-winner once again, this time in a 2-0 win over Westminster while adding an assist as well.

Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week    
 

Mary Beers, Fontbonne University

Beers continues her record-setting season and picks up her second consecutive weekly award. The senior keeper recorded two more shutout wins last week, tying the conference record with 44 career wins and setting the SLIAC mark for consecutive scoreless minutes. Beers totaled five saves in the two games as Fontbonne has now shut out 10 straight opponents.

Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week    
 

Hannah Gallagher, Fontbonne University

Gallagher led the Griffins to a pair of conference victories last week, averaging 4.0 kills and 3.6 digs per set. She had 15 kills and 6 digs, hitting .464, in a sweep of second-place Westminster. The junior followed with a season-high 17 kills against Spalding, adding 23 digs and three blocks. 

Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week    
 

Cassie Gray, Webster University

Gray wins her second weekly award this season after averaging 7.0 digs per set in three matches last week. She had a high of 34 digs against Eureka and added 23 more in a win over Westminster. She currently leads the SLIAC in digs with over 400 this fall.

Other Notables

  • Taryn Banfield, Webster University (Women's Soccer) Picked up two shutout wins last week, tying her for the program record with 30 shutouts. 
  • Mia Bonacorsi, Greenville University (Volleyball) Put down 15 kills in a win over Eureka, hitting .565 in the match with 16 digs.
  • Joaquin Flores, Spalding University (Men's Soccer) Had goals in both of his teams' games last week. 
  • Emma Pramik, Fontbonne University (Volleyball) Had a season-high 28 digs against Spalding, averaging 5.50 digs per set on the week.
  • Faith Rutherford, Spalding University (Women's Soccer) Recorded nine points with three goals and three assists in a win over Eureka.
  • Autumn Wilson, Blackburn College (Volleyball) Recorded a career-high 29 digs against Eureka, totaling 59 digs in three matches and became just the second player in program history to reach 1,000 career digs.
