Four Elected to SLIAC Hall of Fame

It will be a big day for Fontbonne University athletics this May when three Griffins are among the four inductees in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hall of Fame class for 2023. This year's class consists of Fontbonne University's Cassi Glixman, Brian Hoener, and Cassi Glixman and Webster University's Alex Raetzloff.

Cassi Glixman, a softball player, was one of the most feared hitters in the conference from 2012-15. She finished her Griffin career with a .424 batting average, 16 home runs, 155 runs batted in, and a .643 slugging percentage with 59 doubles and 227 hits with 170 runs scored. She ranks 2nd in conference history in RBI and runs scored, 3rd in doubles, and 4th in hits. Glixman was a two-time SLIAC Player of the Year and three-time SLIAC First Team All-Conference selection. She was named All-Region in both 2014 and 2015 and Third Team All-America as a senior as well as Academic All-District the same year.

Brian Hoener spent two decades with the Griffins, serving as both the men's and women's soccer head coach over that time. He was the men's head coach from 2000-13 before closing out his coaching career as the women's head coach from 2011-18; with three seasons as dual head coach from 2011-13. He is the all-time leader in coaching wins for both programs, recording 155 wins with the men's program and 96 with the women's program; totaling 251 wins. Hoener led the men's team to two tournament titles and three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances. He was a four-time Coach of the Year and led the Griffins to four conference championships with 29 All-Conference players during his tenure. He was a three-time Women's Soccer Coach of the Year, leading the Griffins program to eight conference tournaments and coaching 33 All-Conference players.

Madison Leonard joins her former teammate Glixman in the Hall of Fame. Leonard was a pitcher for the Griffins from 2013-16; going 72-24 with a 2.21 earned-run average. She finished her career with a conference record 749 strikeouts, nearly doubling the next closest total. She is also the conference all-time leader in wins and ranks tied for 2nd in shutouts with 13. Leonard had one no-hitter in her career and holds the SLIAC record for consecutive scoreless innings with 58 during the 2015 season. Her 24 wins in 2016 are tied for the 4th most in a single season and she holds the top two single-season strikeout marks and three in the top six. Leonard was an All-America and All-Region performer in 2015 and a four-time First Team All-Conference selection. She was the first player in conference history to win back-to-back Pitcher of the Year awards and remains only one of two players in conference history to accomplish that feat.

Alex Raetzloff was a baseball player for Webster University from 2006-09. The infielder finished his Gorlok career with a .351 batting average and 17 home runs with 102 runs batted in and 62 stolen bases. He had 172 hits, including 40 doubles and six triples, with 164 runs scored and a .561 slugging percentage. His best season was as a junior when he hit .409 with 11 home runs, 44 RBI, 65 runs, 136 total bases, and a .774 slugging percentage. He was named the SLIAC Player of the Year in 2007 and a two-time First Team All-Conference player. He was named All-American in 2008 and was a part of three conference championships. Raetzloff currently ranks in the top ten in conference history in runs scored, walks, and stolen bases as well as in single-season rankings for total bases, slugging percentage, doubles, runs scored, and hits.
