Estrada and Williams Take Top Cross Country Honors
Gianna Estrada and Kyanne Williams take the top awards for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country 2022 season. The duo was selected as the league's runners of the year by coaches, headlining the list of All-Conference and All-Sportsmanship award winners this season.
Estrada wins his third consecutive Men's Runner of the Year award. The three-time SLIAC individual champion, Estrada led the Greenville University program to its 7th consecutive SLIAC title. He won this year's SLIAC Championship with a time of 26:02, besting the field by 27 seconds. Estrada is just the second runner in conference history to win three individual titles during his career. He won one Runner of the Week award this season and became the first SLIAC runner to qualify for nationals since 2017 with his 21st-place finish at last weekend's regional race.
Williams joins the long list of Webster University runners to win the SLIAC Women's Runner of the Year award, becoming the fifth different runner to do so and the fourth consecutive year the program is home to the league's top runner. Williams, a senior, was the top finisher for the Gorloks in every race this fall and placed 18th at last weekend's regional race, qualifying for nationals. She is just the second Gorlok in program history to make it to nationals. She captured a second straight individual SLIAC title and finished 1:04 ahead of the closest runner, the fourth-largest margin of victory in conference history. She also took home four SLIAC Runners of the Week awards this fall.
