Mental Health and Wellness: Understanding Stress

Mental Health and Wellness: Understanding Stress

Mental Health and Wellness is a growing concern, particularly in the time of a pandemic. This past spring the NCAA launched a new Mental Health and Wellness campaign to serve as a platform for student-athletes, administrators, coaches, staff, and support networks across the country. The campaign was started to begin a discussion, speak out on, and break the stigma surrounding mental health.

In conjunction with the NCAA's year-long campaign, the SLIAC will be releasing weekly talks with Dr. Dawn Graff-Haight over the next few weeks. Our goal is to not only provide a starting point to begin talks on mental health and wellness but to offer tips and ways to cope with numerous issues.

Our Week 1 session is all about understanding stress in the time of COVID-19. Dr. Graff-Haight will define what stress is, how our body responds to stress, and ways to adapt to stress. Please come back each Wednesday for more tips and tools in learning more about Mental Health and Wellness.
