SLIAC Players of the Week - March 29, 2021

 

Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week
 

Kyler Kent, Webster University

Kent hit .423 over seven games last week for the Gorloks, helping htem to five wins. The senior had a hit in six of the games, finishing the week with 11 hits including two doubles. He added three runs batted in and four runs scored. On the week he was 11-for-26 with a .448 on-base percentage and a .500 slugging percentage.

 
Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week  
 

Matt Mulhearn, Webster University

Mulhearn, a senior, notched a win in his only outing last week. He picked up a 10-2 victory over Spalding, working 8 innings. Mulhearn allowed two runs on eight hits while striking out nine.

 
Men's Basketball Player of the Week  
 

Chanz Aldridge, Blackburn College

Aldridge, a junior, stepped up for the Beavers in leading them to a pair of conference road wins. He scored 27 points while dishing out 10 assists in a win over Greenville. This past weekend he put up 38 points, with 7 three's, and four steals in his teams narrow win over Iowa Wesleyan. On the week he averaged 32.5 points per game, shooting 61-percent from the field.

 
Women's Basketball Player of the Week  
 

Addison Beussink, Webster University

Beussink scored a school record 35 points in Webster's win over Fontbonne. She was 13-of-19 from the field and connected on 9-of-11 free-throws. In addition she grabbed 14 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards, and added six assists and two steals.

 
Men's Tennis Player of the Week  
 

Juan Segovia, Principia College

Segovia, a junior, played an important role in helping the Panthers pick up a regional win over Rose-Hulman. He won 6-1, 6-2 at #3 singles and teamed with Drew Funke for a 8-3 win at #2 doubles. 

 
Women's Tennis Player of the Week  
 

Kelsie Huss, Principia College

Huss, a sophomore, picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at #1 singles over Franklin. After dropping the opening game she ran off 12 straight games to improve to 2-1 on the season.

 

Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

 
 

Phillip Udinyiwe, Westminster College

Udinyiwe, a senior, played a key role for the Blue Jays offense last week, helping them to a pair of wins. He scored the game-tying goal against Greenville and later set up the game-winner in overtime. In his second game of the week he tallied two goals; finishing with three goals and one assist for seven points on the week.

 
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week  
 

Vicent Sanchis, Iowa Wesleyan University

Sanchis, a freshman, was perfect in earning a scoreless draw against Webster. He stopped all seven shots he faced in 110-minutes of action. 

 
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week  
 

Natalie Schulte, Westminster College

Schulte, a senior, buried four goals during her team's 6-0 win over Blackburn. She netted her goals on 11 shots, putting seven on net. She recorded a natural hat-trick in the game, scoring three straight goals for the Blue Jays over a 29-minute span from late in the first-half to early in the second-half. 

 
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week  
 

Megan Davidson, Westminster College

Davidson, a freshman keeper, guided the Blue Jays to a pair of wins last week including a shutout victory over Blackburn. She allowed one goal, stopping six shots, in a 2-1 win over Greenville to start the week. Three days later she helped blank Blackurn, finishing the week with a .857 save percentage. 

 
Softball Hitter of the Week  
 

Alex Eyman, Iowa Wesleyan University

Eyman put her team's offense on her shoulders and kept them in a high-scoring game against Eureka. Eyeman was responsible for five of her team's six runs in the game. She went 2-for-3 with two home runs and five runs batted in. 

 
Softball Pitcher of the Week  
 

Morgan Parrish, Webster University

Parrish, a senior, picked up a win for the Gorloks, topping Washington University 4-1. She worked 7 innings, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out a season-high eight. 

 
Men's Field Athlete of the Week  
   

Chris Puduski, Principia College

Puduski, a senior, notched a 1st place and 3rd place showing this weekend. He took third in the hammer throw at the Texas Relays with a distance of 185'1" and the next day finished first at the D3 Challenge in the same event, this time with a distance of 180'6".

 
Men's Track Athlete of the Week  
 

Quinn Heinbaugh, Principia College

Heinbaugh took first place in the 800 meter race with a time of 1:58.34. That was a personal best in the event, winning the race by 10-meters. He also competed in his teams 4x400 race the day before.

 
Women's Field Athlete of the Week  
 

Tawny Rodriguez, Greenville University

Rodriguez took home three top three finishes at the WashU Invite. She placed 1st in both the shot put and disc and added a 3rd place showing in the hammer. She threw 126'3" in the disc and marked with a 40'4" throw in the shot put to capture the top spots.

Emme Schaefer, Principia College

Schaefer, a junior, placed 1st in the 1500 meter race at the Texas Relays. She finished in 5:11.04, a personal best and also competed in the 4x400 the day before.

  • Wynne Brown Jr., Webster University (Men's Basketball) Scored 27 points including 22 in the second-half in a come from behind win over Spalding.
  • Jarryd Fernandes, Iowa Wesleyan University (Men's Basketball) Averaged 19.5 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 90-percent from the field in two games.
  • Ahmadou Gueye, Spalding University (Men's Soccer) Recorded two goals and three assists in a win over Eureka.
  • Wesley Kile, Greenville University (Track and Field) Set a school record in the pole vault with a mark of 14'5.25". 
  • Krylstal Kohenskey, Fontbonne University (Women's Soccer) Tallied one goal and three assists in her team's 9-0 win over Blackburn.
  • Ty Kueper, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Hit .583 with 2 home runs and 9 RBi in four games against Eureka.
  • Marcus Montgomery, Spalding University (Men's Basketball) Scored 38 points against Greenville.
  • Anija Simmons, Iowa Wesleyan University (Women's Basketball) Finished with 19 points and 20 rebounds in a win over Blackburn.
  • Abby Stotler, Eureka College (Women's Basketball) Recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Fontbonne.
  • Baeli Young, Spalding University (Women's Soccer) Playing short-handed she led a Golden Eagle come back, scoring three goals and adding an assist in her team's 4-2 win over Eureka.
