SLIAC Players of the Week - March 8

 

Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week
 

Eric Meyer, Spalding University

Meyer was red-hot last week finishing with a .800 batting average while driving in 11. He was 12-for-15 at the plate with five runs scored, one home run, and a 1.400 slugging percentage. The senior infielder recorded multiple hits in all four games on the week including a four-hit performance in the opener against Eureka. He closed out the week with a four-RBI game in the series finale against Eureka.

 
Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week  
 

Caleb Collins, Spalding University

Collins worked his way to a win against Eureka, throwing five innings in a 12-4 win over the Red Devils. The freshman hurler allowed just one hit in the game and no runs while striking out nine and walking just two.

 
Men's Basketball Player of the Week  
 

Ian Milsteadt, Eureka College

Milsteadt captures his second straight weekly award after averaging 19.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game over three games last week. The senior guard scored 30 points in helping the Red Devils to a win over Iowa Wesleyan, adding 14 rebounds and three blocks in the contest. He also put up 23 points in a win against Blackburn. On the week Milsteadt shot 52.6 percent from the field and knocked down 7-of-13 three's and 11-of-13 free-throws.

 
Women's Basketball Player of the Week  
 

Julie Baudendistel, Webster University

The sophomore forward led the Gorloks to a pair of conference wins last week, averaging 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. She scored 21 points while grabbing 8 rebounds and dishing out four assists with 3 steals against Spalding. She followed with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals against Westminster.

 
Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week  
 

Jarret Gabriele, Webster University

The sophomore forward totaled one goal and one assist for three total points in two Gorlok wins on the week. Gabriele scored the game's first goal in his team's 4-1 win over Fontbonne, netting the goal just two minutes into the start of the contest. He later assisted on his team's fourth goal.

 

Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

 
 

Matt Coffey, Webster University

Coffey let up just one goal in two starts last week, picking up wins in both games. The junior blanked Fontbonne 1-0 in the season opener, making four saves in the game. He picked up the win in a rematch against Fontbonne as well, allowing one goal while recording one save. On the week he finished with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .833 save percentage. 

 
Men's Tennis Player of the Week  
 

Daniel Gomez, Principia College

Wins his second straight weekly award after two wins over Millikin last week. The senior won 6-2, 6-4 at #1 singles and teamed with Wyatt Dale for an 8-6 win at #1 doubles. He improves to 10-0 on the season. 

 
Softball Hitter of the Week  
 

Mackenzie Myers, Westminster College

Myers, a senior outfielder, led the Blue Jays to three wins on the week; hitting .800 in four games. She picked up multiple hits in all four games including a three-hit outing in game one against Rhodes. Myers added a home run and two runs in that game as well. She finished the week with four RBI and a 1.200 slugging percentage, going 12-for-15 with four runs scored.

 
Softball Pitcher of the Week  
 

Katie Price, Westminster College

Price, a senior, went 2-0 on the week with a 3.27 earned-run average in two starts for the Blue Jays. She picked up the victory in a 6-1 game against Rhodes, throwing a complete game while allowing just one run and five hits while striking out four. She notched her second win of the week in the series closing game against Rhodes, working 8 innings and striking out one.

 
Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week  
   

Hannah Holland, Spalding University

Holland, a freshman, helped the Golden Eagles to a pair of conference wins last week. She totaled 39 kills and 11 digs in the two matches, hitting .261. The outside hitter had a career high 24 kills in a win over Iowa Wesleyan, adding 6 digs. She also finished with 15 kills in a sweep of Eureka, hitting .357 in the match with 5 digs.

 
Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week  
 

Kylie Burke, Webster University

Burke, a junior middle, made her living at the net for the Gorloks this week. She recorded 13 total blocks in three matches including an eight-block performance in her team's 3-1 win over #10 ranked Westminster. Burke added five blocks against Fontbonne to start the week and chipped in with 16 total kills and 5 digs on the week.

  • Lauren Borik, Webster University (Volleyball) Averaged 3.45 kills and 4.73 digs per set in three matches for the Gorloks.
  • Caden Clark, Fontbonne University (Men's Basketball) Scored 42 points on 19-of-23 shooting in a win over Greenville.
  • Malieokekai DaMate, Iowa Wesleyan University (Volleyball) Tallied 16 kills and 23 digs against Spalding.
  • Braeden Dobbs, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Hit .643 in three games with two home runs and six RBI.
  • Rodson Etienne, Webster University (Men's Basketball) Averaged 19.5 points per game while shooting 68-percent from the field.
  • Jarryd Fernandes, Iowa Wesleyan University (Men's Basketball) Averaged 15.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. 
  • Jadyn Fitzgerald, Fontbonne University (Volleyball) Finished with 19 kills and 14 digs in a win over Webster.
  • Morgan McCrea, Iowa Wesleyan University (Women's Basketball) Recorded 24 points and 9 rebounds against Westminster.
  • Matt Mulhearn, Webster University (Baseball) Picked up a win over Wartburg, striking out seven in six innings.
  • Jenna Murphy, Iowa Wesleyan University (Volleyball) Finished with 35 digs against Spalding.
  • Morgan Parrish, Webster University (Softball) Worked 11 scoreless innings on the week in two outings.
  • Rylee Stafford, Fontbonne University (Women's Basketball) Scored 27 points in leading the Griffins to a 76-70 win over Greenville.
  • Abby Stotler, Eureka College (Women's Basketball) Picked up a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Blackburn.
