SLIAC Game of the Week - (1/21)

This week marks the mid-way point of the SLIAC basketball season. Our SLIAC Game of the Week puts two women's basketball teams who have yet to meet this year, Eureka College and Greenville University. The two teams are tied for the league lead with 9 overall wins and will meet on Wednesday in Greenville, Illinois. You can watch the game HERE

 

Eureka College 'RED DEVILS'      

Eureka is looking to rebound from a loss at home to Webster last week and is 3-3 in their last six games. The Red Devils are leading the SLIAC in scoring (77.3 points per game) and like to work the ball inside where they lead the conference with over 18 free-throws made per game. Sophomore Olivia Falls is one of the league's top inside forces; averaging 14.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game while shooting a league-leading 58-percent from the floor. Ashley Harfst is the only player in the league averaging a double-double this season at 13.7 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Jadyn Mitchell is the team's top outside threat, connecting on 38-percent of her shots while averaging 12.5 points per game. Kennedy Dura is the cog that runs the offense and is averaging 8.3 points per game while leading the SLIAC in assists (70) and ranking 8th in steals (28). 

Greenville University 'PANTHERS'      

Greenville carries the longest active winning streak in the league into the week, having won five straight. They are averaging 74.7 points per game this season, 2nd in the SLIAC, and allow a league-low 61.7 points per game. The Panthers are strong in the paint; leading the league in offensive rebounds and rebound margin. Freshman forward Madelyn Stephen is at the forefront of that inside game; averaging a team-high 11.7 points per game while shooting 49-percent from the field and grabbing 4.9 rebounds per game. Hannah Krukewitt leads the team at 6.2 rebounds per game and averages 10.1 points per game. Emily Reinneck is averaging 10.7 points per game and is tied for the team lead with 21 three-pointers. Lauren Eagleson (3.8 assists per game) runs the league's most efficient offense which leads the league in assists and has committed the fewest turnovers.
