SLIAC 30 for 30: Blackburn, A Work Program College
Blackburn College is one of just eight schools in the country to utilize a student work program and the only one that is run by their students. Located in Carlinville, Illinois, Blackburn College moved to this unique format in 1913 to help attract students from rural areas and allow them to receive a higher education, offsetting costs, while also gaining real-world work experiences to prepare them for their graduation. This week we talked with Angie Morenz, the Dean of the Work Program at Blackburn College, and a Blackburn alum.
