SLIAC Statement for Positive Change

SLIAC Statement for Positive Change

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference stands together with all our member institutions and their constituents in the support of a globally diverse society and equality for all. The recent death of George Floyd, at the hands of specific individuals within the Minneapolis police force, was an inconceivable injustice and a preventable tragedy.

This type of impolitic behavior cannot continue to permeate our society and can no longer be tolerated. The SLIAC strongly supports the peaceful protests and the individuals involved that seek the desired change to a system of justice that, unfortunately, continues in an inequitable manner for many.

The nine institutions within the SLIAC stand in unity as we work closely to ensure the conference leads with compassion and empathy while attempting to always stand up for what is right for all. The conference is dedicated toward working together to be a positive change force for equality through striving to listen, learn and understand all members of our multi-cultured society while continually striving for inclusion and diversity within its member institutions …Together We Can Make a Change.
