Sias Adds Assistant Athletic Director Title
Fontbonne University Director of Athletics, Maria Buckel, is pleased to announce Head Women's Basketball Coach and Compliance Director, Maureen Sias, as the next Assistant Athletic Director.
"Coach Sias has a perspective of Fontbonne Athletics as a student-athlete and coach," said Buckel. "She's continued to be selfless with doing what is right for our department and never afraid to present different perspectives or alternatives to challenges our department has faced in a professional manner. Therefore, Maureen was the first person that came to mind to step up when Brian announced his departure."
Sias, who's been with Fontbonne since 2014, is coming off a career year leading the women's basketball program where they went 16-10 overall, set a program record with 15 conference wins, earned the No. 2 seed in the SLIAC Tournament, and she was named SLIAC Coach of the Year for the first time in her career.
In 2015-16, Sias was named the full-time Compliance Director and Head Women's Basketball Coach at Fontbonne. Since then, the Griffins have gone 71-81 in her six seasons at the helm.
"I'm very excited for this opportunity and want to thank Maria for the chance to be a part of the leadership team," added Sias. "As a Fontbonne alum, it's an honor to serve our current athletes and coaches and to remember all the great ones that came before to help move our department in the right direction. I'm ready to do the work to help us all be successful."
She'll officially start the Assistant Athletic Director position on July 1st.
