SLIAC Players of the Week (3/9/20)

 

Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week  
 

Ryan Clavin, Westminster College

Clavin powered his way to the Diamond Sports SLIAC Hitter of the Week award with a .857 slugging percentage in six games for the Blue Jays last week. The senior outfielder hit .429 with four multiple-hit games on the week, leading his team to four wins. Clavin totaled 2 home runs and 6 RBI last week, striking out just once in 21 at-bats. Clavin closed out his week with a 2-for-3 game, scoring twice, and hitting 1 home run while driving in 3 and walking once. 

Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week
 

Luke Summers, Fontbonne University

Summers showed mid-season form in his only appearance on the mound last week for the Griffins. The senior pitcher worked 7 innings against Saint Mary's (Minn.) notching the win for the Griffins. He allowed six hits and just one run while striking out a season-high 13 batters and walking just one. 

Softball Hitter of the Week
 

Chloe Johnson, Webster University

Johnson rolled off a .538 batting average last week for the Gorloks, claiming hitter of the week honors. The junior tallied a pair of three-hit games on the week while totaling 8 runs batted in during her four games. Johnson was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and 4 RBI against Eastern to start her week. Four of her seven hits on the week were doubles as she finished with a .846 slugging percentage. 

Softball Pitcher of the Week
 

Morgan Christner, Iowa Wesleyan University

Last year's SLIAC Pitcher of the Year opened her season with a dominating performance in her season opener last week. The senior pitcher worked 7 scoreless innings in picking up the win for the Tigers. She limited Medaille to just three hits in the win, walking two, while striking out 12. 

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
 

Riley Muren, Webster University

Muren secured his second straight weekly award after going 5-1 last week. Muren was undefeated in singles play, playing at the #1 spot for the Gorloks. He came from behind against Illinois Wesleyan to win 4-6, 6-4, 10-4. Muren then flew by his opponents Illinois College and Nazareth while picking up doubles wins, with partner Tanner Haugen, over Illinois College and Nazareth.

Women's Tennis Player of the Week  
 

Erin Brezovar, Webster University

Brezovar picks up her second award this season after picking up a pair of wins over Nazareth in her team's opening match of their spring break trip. Brezovar cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at #1 singles. Her and teammate Maggie Federhofer added an 8-2 win at #1 doubles in the outing. She is now 5-4 on the season in singles and 6-3 in doubles.

  • Madison Ingram, Westminster College (Softball) Struck out nine in a five-inning win over Stephens.
  • Garrett Mathews, Spalding University (Baseball) Threw five scoreless innings against Principia, recording eight strikeouts.
  • Hannah Miener, Fontbonne University (Softball) Hit .478 with 9 RBI in six games for the Griffins.
  • Michael Noonan, Iowa Wesleyan University (Baseball) Hit a grand slam in the first inning of the Tigers 11-2 win over Robert Morris-Springfield.
  • Evan Trentman, Spalding University (Baseball) Had five hits and two stolen bases in a three-game series against Principia.
  • Bailee Zemianek, Westminster College (Softball) Went 6-for-9 at the plate with 10 runs batted in during a doubleheader against Stephens.
