Zalis Breaks Westminster Single Game Scoring Record (January 8, 2017)
Andrea Zalis tallied a game-high 35 points to break the Westminster game day scoring record in Westminster's 82-62 win over Blackburn. The previous record was a tie at 33 points between Casey Lionberge.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

The Blackburn women's basketball team will host Webster University in a SLIAC contest on Wednesday night in Carlinville, Illinois. Aleisha Stiltner, a junior, is the team's leading scorer at 8.3 points per game this season. She is also the team's leader in assists (20) and steals (15). Freshman guard Maria Cline is second on the team at 6.5 points per game while junior Candace Pollock is third at 6.4 points per game. |

The Eureka women's basketball team remains the only undefeated team in conference play this year with a 5-0 record. That start is the program's best start in conference play since joining the league and NCAA Division III. The Red Devils put their undefeated record on the line this week in a pair of road games against Greenville and Westminster. They will conclude a four game road swing with a game against Iowa Wesleyan next week. |

Fontbonne University women's basketball senior guard Emmie Haring has made her name known around the conference but now she is making it known across all of NCAA Division III basketball. Haring leads the nation in assists, with 93 as of the last report, and ranks second in assists per game. Haring is currently averaging 7.2 assists per game. |

The Greenville men's basketball team became the first team in the SLIAC to reach double figures in overall wins this season and currently are 10-3 overall this year. However they are coming off a loss to Iowa Wesleyan, dropping their conference mark to 4-2 on the season. The Panthers will host Eureka this Wednesday before heading to Principia on Saturday for another conference contest. |

The Iowa Wesleyan men's basketball team continues to build momentum with the longest active winning streak in the conference, five games. Senior guard Steven Soukup has sparked the run with impressive outings last week. Soukup recorded 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in a win over Webster. He followed with 44 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks against Greenville. For his efforts Soukup picked up SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors. |

The Highlanders men's basketball team found their first win of the year last week with a 77-76 win over Eureka. MacMurray jumped out to a 38-33 halftime lead at home over the Red Devils before holding them off for the win. Brent Long and Tim Frazier scored 18 points to led the way for the Highlanders. MacMurray nearly picked up a second straight win, falling to Principia 78-76 in their next game. MacMurray will host Webster this Saturday to end the week. |

Principia picked up a thrilling 78-76 come from behind win over MacMurray on Tuesday night with senior guard Adaku Anumu hitting a three pointer with 10 seconds left on the clock. Principia trailed 37-30 at halftime and by as many as 14 points in the second-half before mounting their come back. Anumu led all scorers with 24 points while Parker Davidson added 22 points. The win improves Principia to 4-3 in the SLIAC and helps maintain pace in the SLIAC standings, a half game behind third place. |

Spalding's big man in the middle Nick Trisko had a big week last week. Trisko netted 37 points, on 16-of-25 shooting, while grabbing 23 rebounds in a game against Greenville. The rebound mark sets a new conference record for most rebounds in a game. He followed that performance with 16 points and 15 rebounds in a contest against Webster. |

It was announced last week that Webster University will serve as the host for the NCAA Division III Central Region Baseball Championships for the second straight year. The tournament will be held at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois from May 17-20 with the winner of the region advancing to the NCAA Division III World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin. |

The Westminster women's basketball team has won two consecutive games and three of their last four. This week Westminster will have show downs against Iowa Wesleyan, who sits in fourth place in the standings, and Eureka, who is in first place. Westminster is currently 5-8 overall and tied for second in the SLIAC standings with a 4-2 record. |
