Fontbonne and Webster Recognized By NSCAA For Sportsmanship
The Fontbonne University and Webster University women's soccer teams were recognized by the NSCAA for their on the field sportsmanship during the 2014 season. Fontbonne, coached by Brian Hoener, was awarded the Silver Award while Webster, coached by Luigi Scire, earned the Bronze Award. In all, 125 college teams were awarded either the Gold, Silver, or Bronze version of their respective NSCAA Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award. The NSCAA Sportsmanship award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season. The levels are as follows: Gold- No cards accumulated during the season, Silver- No red cards and no more than five yellow cards accumulated during the season, Bronze- No more than 10 cards accumulated during the season. A total of eight teams won the Gold Award, with 82 winning the Silver Award, and 35 winning the Bronze Award.
The NSCAA is the world's largest soccer coaches' organization with members at every level of the game. The membership is primarily made up of coaches, but also includes administrators, referees and others in the soccer industry. The NSCAA provides its members ways to enhance the game of soccer by providing a national education program, interaction and networking opportunities, and membership benefits.
